JARET VADERA is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer whose work interrogates and complicates the relationships between power, memory, and representations of other spaces. His practice is influenced by cognitive science, post/de-colonial theory, science fiction, Buddhist systems of thought, as well as the study of impossible objects.
Vadera’s work has been exhibited widely and is included in several institutional and private collections. Notable institutions where the artist’s work has been shown include; the Queens Museum, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai; Paved Art + New Media, Saskatoon; Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah; and Aljira: A Center for Contemporary Art, Newark, NJ.
Vadera received his undergraduate degree from the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, and the Cooper Union School of Art in New York. He received his Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University. He currently teaches Art History at Montclair State University, and is a Visiting Instructor in the Social Science and Cultural Studies Department at Pratt Institute. Jaret Vadera currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.

ABOUT THE ARTIST-RESEARCHER IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Jaret Vadera is the inaugural PES artist-researcher in residence. Over the course of the year, through archival research and dialog with members of the community Vadera will create a new site-specific installation and facilitate three public events in Newark.
