In March, the PES team, led by Co-Director Rebecca Pauline Jampol, joined the City of Newark's Office of Homelessness and Homes for the Homeless for a new initiative for residents without addresses called Newark Hope Village. This initiative is a low-barrier shelter community built from repurposed shipping containers and transformed into a therapeutic service-oriented community.

A visual language was created in partnership with designer Chantal Fischzang and was applied throughout the site. The designs include affirmations that emphasize care, warmth, and welcome. Murals and other activations were created in partnership with Newark artists. In addition to our work, the PES annual donation drive for Women in Need supported this community.

This program will continue into the future! PES has been tapped to participate in the creation of Newark Hope Village II and III in 2022.
